“Wake up, John.”

The world turned bright as John opened his eyes. He was on his back, but was standing before he even

realized he had gotten up. The room was unfamiliar, and as his eyes returned to normal he made out the

figure of what appeared to be a very tall man standing before him.

“Where am I?” he asked.

The man turned his back to john and began walking towards a basketball sized sphere in the center of the

room.

“You’re in the control room.”

“The control room. Got it. What control room?”

“You’ve been promoted, John. We only let our subjects outside of the testing environment when we

choose a new operator. That means you. Congratulations.

“Subjects? Testing environment? What do you mean?” John asked in a puzzled tone.

“Rest assured, everything will be explained during your transition to operator. We will be starting in just a

moment.”

“Operator? Of what?”

“Earth.”
